William Alther actually joined us in the later part of 2010. He has always been drawn to art and animals which led to a degree in Wildlife BIology and a position at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Throughout, William was an active artist and in 2004 he left the museum to paint full-time. The natural world continues to be his cheif inspiration, with landscapes and wildlife being his principal subjects. Please check out our website to see more of his wonderful work.

The Art Show Committee for "Cheyenne Frontier Days Western Art Show" has made a unanimous decision in naming Karen Cooper, a first time artist to the show, as next year’s poster artist. The chosen painting, as seen above, depicts a bronc rider coming straight out of the chute.

Karen Cooper is a pastel artist who works on black and uses the black and negative space to give her pastels a dramatic and unique look. Her show pieces can be seen on the website at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum under Western Art Show. Won't you please join us in congratulating Karen on this great honor!
